Kernow Young Carers Update

As providers of the new Kernow Young Carers service, Barnardo’s is delighted to be supporting young carers in Cornwall over the coming years.  We are currently arranging our summer activity programme and will be contacting people as soon as we are able to and advise them of the opportunities available.

The new service is now different and unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate everyone who may wish to take part in an activity this summer.

We are working hard with our partners in the wider Cornwall Carers Service with implementation of this new work.  We would ask that you bear with us during the transition stage of the new service as waiting times for contact are currently longer than we would wish.

Further information can be obtained by contacting the Advice Line on 01736 756655

Who are young & young adult carers?

A young & young adult carer is a child or young person (aged 25 and under) who provides care and support for a family member who may be affected by ill health, a disability, mental ill health or substance misuse.

What we offer

Families or any professional can make a referral. Once a referral is received a Support Practitioner will visit the family, carry out a short assessment, the young person can then access our activities, groups and other services.  Learn more

Read about Kernow Young Carers in our Through Our Eyes section. Here young people and staff will regularly post stories and photos about events that have taken place. There is also a calendar of forthcoming events to keep up to date with what is happening with Kernow Young Carers.
