What we offer

“A young and young adult carer is a child, young person or young adult (25 & under) who provides regular care and support for a family member.”

The family member may be affected by:

  • Ill Health
  • A disability
  • Mental ill health
  • Substance misuse

Kernow Young & Young Adult Carers aim to make the caring role a more positive experience for the children, young people & young adults involved by offering:

  • Support
  • Information, guidance and advice
  • Activities and trips
  • Short breaks
  • School groups
  • Training and educational sessions e.g. first aid
  • Advocacy
  • Local young carers groups and forums
  • Groups & activities for young adult carers
  • Young Adult Carers Support Groups

Referrals are accepted from families, any agency and professionals working with the family.

To make a referral you will need to ring the Family Information Service on 0800 587 8191, or if you’d like to speak to a member of the Kernow Carers Service click on ‘register an interest’ and a worker will contact you as soon as possible.
